Admissions

St Anselm’s School primarily serves the parish of Our Lady and St Thomas of Canterbury. We are happy to show prospective parents and their children around the school at a mutually convenient time. As well as giving you information about the school we will answer any questions you may have.

60 pupils are admitted to our Reception Classes each school year. This is our Published Admission Number (PAN) for the school. Parents should be aware that the school regularly receives more applications than the number of places available and that the submission of an application does not guarantee the offer of a place at the School.

All parents who have been offered a place will be asked to confirm their acceptance in writing. Parents of new children to be admitted are invited to spend some time with their class teacher, while you have the opportunity of meeting the other parents of children starting school, the head, deputy head and secretaries, the members of the SPA, a governor and others.

How to apply

Applicants must complete the Local Education Authority (LA) “Common Application Form” (CAF). They should also complete a Supplementary Information Form, the Certificate of Catholic Practice, is to be completed by the Parish Priest where you attend Mass. The CAF allows you to nominate up to six schools in order of preference. You should submit only one CAF by the specified date of return. If you submit more than one CAF the last CAF received will withdraw an earlier submitted CAF.

Failure to complete and return both the Common Admissions Form and the Supplementary Information Form by the closing date may affect the priority accorded to your application by the Governing Body. The supplementary form and Certificate of Catholic Practice should be returned directly to the school office together with the child’s baptismal certificate.

If you are applying to another Catholic school you will be required to complete a set of supplementary papers for each Catholic school.

The Governing Body

The Governing Body will consider all applications for admission to the school in accordance with this Admissions Policy and Oversubscription Criteria.

The Governing Body intends to admit no more than a total of 60 pupils into its Reception Classes in any school year. Parents should be aware that the School regularly receives more applications than the number of places available and that the submission of an application does not guarantee the offer of a place at the School.

Certificate of Catholic Practice Form to be collected from your Parish Priest.
